The middle of the day with the sun high in the sky is usually not ideal for taking cool pictures due to the harsh light. Everything fell into place on that summer day at Brooklyn Park, right under the Manhattan Bridge—the lighting, the atmosphere, everything was perfect.
A couple was there, thoroughly enjoying the day, fully embracing the midday sun. Normally, you would expect the strong sunlight to ruin the atmosphere, but nope, it had the opposite effect. It totally turned the park into this lively stage with the Manhattan Bridge towering above like an epic backdrop. The sunlight hit the river and parts of the bridge, making them sparkle. And just like that, the entire place was filled with beauty and glory.
The park was so lively, and there was this couple just hanging out, having a blast. It felt like the usual photography rules went out the window because the scene in front of me was just crying out to be photographed. The bridge, the park’s greenery, the laid-back folks—it was all just a perfect summer vibe.
While photographing, I felt like I was capturing the essence of summer—the warmth, the brightness, the clear blue sky, and the relaxed atmosphere of the park. The midday sun, known to be a photographer’s nightmare, actually worked to our advantage by infusing everything with a radiant and ethereal quality, similar to what one would typically see during the golden hour.
It ended up being one of those delightful surprises in photography, where the bright midday sun added to the park’s charm, illuminating everything in a stunning way and creating a truly unforgettable day under the Manhattan Bridge.
