Care & Handling Guide
Cleaning Your Mounted Fine Art Photograph
Treat your photograph with the reverence it deserves. To clean it:
- Gently dust the surface using a soft, slightly dampened cloth or chamois. Imagine you’re touching the delicate wings of a butterfly.
- Use light, careful strokes to avoid damage. Think of it as caressing the art, not just cleaning it.
- Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch or leave a static charge, attracting dust.
- Never use harsh chemicals like window cleaners or solvents—they can erase the story your photograph tells.
Caring for the Frame
Our frames are crafted to complement the art they hold:
- Dust wood frames lightly with a soft, dry cloth. They’re sealed with wax to age gracefully, much like a fine wine.
- For black cube or stainless steel frames, a high-quality microfiber cloth is best. Moisten slightly, clean gently, and blot dry.
- To dislodge dust in crevices or on the liner, use compressed air, ensuring no moisture escapes to mar the surface.
Lighting Your Artwork
Lighting is the magic that brings your photograph to life:
- Balance spotlights and ambient lighting to highlight the artwork’s depth and color.
- We recommend MR16 halogen bulbs for their warm, natural light, but the choice is yours.
- Engage a lighting professional to tailor the ambiance that complements your space and artwork.
Environmental Care
Your photograph thrives in a stable environment:
- Direct sunlight is an art’s nemesis; it fades and weakens. Position your piece where light is gentle, like in a shaded sanctuary.
- Extreme temperatures and humidity are the hidden dangers. Keep the room at a comfortable 75°F (24°C) or below, with humidity ideally around 60%.
- Think of your fine art as a living entity that reacts to its surroundings, needing balance to thrive.
By integrating these care practices into your routine, you ensure that your NK Fine Art Photography piece remains a vibrant and vital part of your environment, resonating its beauty and artistry for many years.
